Indie Films: Capture Real Life Artisticly on Film

Most known films created are made by big film studios and production, and includes contemporary, popular and professional actors and actresses. Film creation isn't exclusive for such people alone as other artists on a tight budget with great passion on film making can also create a film in the form of an independent movie. Independent as what associated with artists, directors and staff working with no advertisement support or any big financial assistance, no complex production team, and are working with mere passion, skills, specific deadline and a limited budget. Some indie artists and film makers consider indie films as their starter, a step to be known by those big film makers or generally be appreciated for their artworks.

In most indie films, the plot mostly tackles scenarios and issues as it is (with no or just little sugar coating on it) based from real life. The downside of being an indie film though is that not too many people (specifically the movie going public) who patronize, support or even know that such films existed (made). This can be traced back from the lack of promotional machinery, too sensitive or odd topics covered, and how it (sometimes how poorly it) is presented. They also don’t have famous stars to at least boost its popularity and overall promotion. Most of the time, the recognitions and honor that such indie films bring home from various independent film award giving bodies are the only reason and time that people and media starts to notice the acting, direction, and the actual indie film itself.

Many think that indie films are inferior, that it will never be recognized. However, it is the complete contrast of that as indie films tends to break the formulaic norms of a Hollywood or any mainstream film concept. Some indie films excelled in most aspects like any other major film releases, even better: acting, writing, direction, costume, cinematography, visual designs, etc. It is amazing to see that most films recognize today are independent films. Films that people once disregarded and underestimated. Now mainstream film studios are going with the more independent look and feel, hiring directors and actors from independent films, it is a complete reversal now from it once was.
